Dr. Simone Gaffling

CEO HiD

Simone Gaffling studied Computational Engineering with a focus on computer science and mechanical engineering at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg where she received her M.Sc. in 2008. She then joined the Pattern Recognition Lab to pursue her PhD, which she completed in 2021. Her research focus was the three-dimensional reconstruction of histology image sequences. She is an alumni of the Erlangen Graduate School of Advanced Optical Technologies (SAOT).

 

 

Prof. Dr. Michael Scholz

Chief Scientific Officer

Professor Dr. Michael Scholz is a natural scientist and Professor of Anatomy at the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen. He studied pre-/protohistory and archaeobiology at the Universities of Göttingen, Erlangen and Tübingen. After completing his doctorate (magna cum laude), he qualified as a professor of anatomy at the Faculty of Medicine at FAU Erlangen in 2010. In 2014, he successfully completed the postgraduate Master of Medical Education (MME) programme at the University of Heidelberg. At the Institute of Functional and Clinical Anatomy, in addition to his diverse teaching and research activities, he is also curator of the anatomical collection and head of the Digital Anatomy Laboratory (DAL). As a specialist anatomist, he is intensively involved in the implementation and the development of the latest digital visualization techniques in medical research and teaching. Michael Scholz is a textbook author, author of over 100 scientific publications and one of the editors of the international scientific journal ´Annals of Anatomy´.
